On December 14, 2024, the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome was the stage for the fourth edition of the Videocittà Awards, the prize dedicated to excellence in digital and audiovisual art.
Hosted by journalist and art critic Nicolas Ballario and content creator Momoka Banana, the evening awarded the most innovative companies and the most talented professionals in the sector: Margherita Paiano for the “Creators” category, Onda Studio for the “Immersive Experiences”, Riccardo Giovinetto for the “AV Performances”, Federica di Pietrantonio for the “Video Art” and Machine Zero for the “Next” category. Margherita Landi received the VR special mention.
The awards were presented by Francesco Rutelli, President of Videocittà, Lorenza Lei, Head of Cinema for the Lazio Region, Silvia Scozzese, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Budget for Rome Capital, Dardust, pianist, composer and producer, Claudio Corserà, CEO of Eur SPA, Laura Negrini, Director of IED Rome. The award ceremony ended with greetings from Francesco Dobrovich, creative director of Videocittà.
Among the highlights of the evening, the live audiovisual performance “SHIRO” by Nonotak. A creative duo founded in 2011 by visual artist Noemi Schipfer and sound and light artist Takami Nakamoto, they presented a performance that blends shadows, lights and techno music through four semi-transparent screens and through the bodies of the artists themselves. A game of superimpositions that results in a unique visual and sound experience, a truly dreamlike and immersive journey.
Inside the art foyer it was also possible to try ODE corporis, the first VR experience of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, conceived and curated by Anna Lea Antolini with Giuliano Danieli and directed by Guido Geminiani. Produced by the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in collaboration with Videocittà, it is a journey through the body, in the known and less known, accessible and inaccessible spaces of the Teatro Costanzi and its scenographic laboratory, the Cerchi.
The evening ended with an exclusive DJ set by Efee.
