What is Nebula?

Nebula è a site specific installation by Quiet Ensemble with original music by Giorgio Moroder, created by Eni with the executive production of Eventi italiani and curated by Videocittà, the third of a quadrilogy that began in 2022 with Luna Somnium and continued in 2023 with Mater Terrae.

On this occasion the Gazometer presents itself as a majestic telescopic structure, projected towards the firmament and inviting the spectator to a contemplative observation of the sky. The installation, designed specifically for this site, transforms it into a fascinating intergalactic space, where a gigantic nebula manifests itself through spatialized sounds and laser lights.

Quiet Ensemble's immersive work with original music by Giorgio Moroder narrates the journey of an imaginary explorer, who begins his journey from simple earthly dust and crosses the infinite vastness of the sky at the speed of light. On an interstellar journey subject to organic revolutions that renew and change the scenario.

The traveler will be led on an adventurous journey that starts from Earth, where every step, even the simplest movement of dust as we pass, can have a significant and revolutionary impact. These small gestures generate cascading changes, similar to the dynamics that create, nourish and transform nebulae.

A journey made of parallels between micro and macro, which accompanies on a conscious and aware journey, helping the traveler to feel an integral part of the vast celestial panorama. The narrative highlights the relationship between action and consequence, showing how existence is intertwined with realities composed of continually evolving entities and energies.

The spectator thus crosses, in an emotional and abstract story, the elements of the Earth, plows through the void of space, losing himself in the enchantment of a nebula, to see its transformation and admire the energy that animates it, until it runs out in a blinding supernova from which everything will begin again, like an endless energy capable of living forever. Like a speck of dust catapulted into the storm, the galaxy and our concept of the immense.
