Terrace – Congress Palace
On the opening day Videocittà will bring the show to the suggestive terrace of the Palazzo dei Congressi Starting from the tail by the master of Italian animation Gianluigi Toccafondo. For the occasion, the work was modulated into a 40 m monumental site-specific projection.
Starting from the tail it's a montage of about 50 minutes, to the music of Simeon Ten Holt, of the animated films that Toccafondo has made from 1989 to today. It includes short films, theme songs and animations created in recent years for the Rome Opera House.
Gianluigi Toccafondo was born in San Marino in 1965. In 1989 he made his first short film, which won an award at the Lucca Film Festival the following year. He later directed together with Simona Mulazzani the short film La Pista which received a special mention at the Annecy cinéma italien and an award at the Treviso Festival. He is also the director of Le Criminel (in Italian Il Criminale) produced for the French company Le Step and presented in 1993 at the 50th Venice International Film Festival and also a finalist in the Golden Cartoon. He also created several theme tunes for television programs such as Tunnel, Carosello in 1997, Almanac of Prophecies and also for the 56th Venice International Film Festival; he was also the creator of commercials such as the one for Sambuca Molinari, Avanzi and also for the Fandango company.
As an illustrator, he worked for Einaudi, Feltrinelli, Mondadori, Scott Free and other publishing houses; he has also collaborated with magazines such as Linea d'ombra, Lo Straniero and Abitare. He has also had some exhibitions in Paris, Tokyo and Italy.
