CO-VISION

At Videocittà 2025 the first version of the AV/TALK installation was previewed, which combined digital art, science and narration around the Pinea pine, a natural and cultural symbol of Rome, with the contribution of Simone Arcagni, Lorenza Liguori, Vincenzo Pizzi and Delfina Stella, in collaboration with the Presidential Estate of Castel Porziano.

 

A video story of the creative process, with previously unpublished extracts from the work, was also presented as an international preview at Expo 2025 Osaka, as part of “The Week of Lazio's Protagonism”, from 18 to 24 May at the Italian Pavilion.

This installation represented the first stage of CO‑VISION, an international project co-financed by Creative Europe, which sees Videocittà as the leader of a network of festivals and institutions including Athens Digital Arts Festival, Eufònic Festival, Transylvania Trust, KIKK Festival, LAB852, Rencontres Audiovisuelles and Signal Festival, together with academic and technical partners IED, Mapa das Ideias, NTNU and XAMK.

 

With CO‑VISION, Videocittà consolidates its role as an international hub of digital culture, capable of transforming the dialogue between art, science, and community into a European platform for cultural and environmental innovation.

Videocittà 2025

From The 3th edition of Videocittà, the Festival of Vision and Digital Culture, conceived by Francesco Rutelli and under the creative direction of Francesco Dobrovich, was held from 6rd to XNUMXth July.

 

With one more day of programming than previous editions, The largest industrial archaeology area in Europe, the Rome Gasometer, has once again become a hub of cultural innovation and welcomed four days of majestic installations, video art, video mapping, immersive experiences, music audiovisual shows, talks and AV experiences, already looking to the languages of tomorrow.

 

Videocittà is an open observatory that promotes excellence in audiovisual and digital communication, giving visibility to the most advanced forms of production and creativity. Since 2018, the festival has expanded its international reach, welcoming over 550 artists, including Oscar Awards e winners of the Golden and Silver Lions at the Venice BiennaleVideocittà is also a laboratory for emerging talents, many of whom, starting from Italian premieres, have achieved international fame. The 2025 edition celebrated the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures of St. Francis and focuses on the Sun as a symbol of life, light, energy. A theme reflected in the work of the artists involved, who explore the relationship between sustainability, the environment, and digital innovation.

 

With Eni as Main Partner, the support of Rome Capital – Department of Culture and with the support of the Lazio region and the media partnership of Rai, the 2025 edition concludes the quadrilogy on the relationship between man and nature, after the lunar element (2022), the Earth (2023) and the Galaxy (2024).

Agora PRO 2025

Agorà is Videocittà's international B2B platform that brings together leading creatives, studios, institutions, and cultural professionals for curated one-on-one meetings, inspirational talks, and high-level networking opportunities. The event took place on July 2nd and 3rd at The Social Hub and served as a hub for the Italian and international creative industries.

 

The program on July 2nd started with the B2B Sessions, one-on-one meetings that connected artists, studios and professionals with aligned interests, followed by a networking lunch. In the afternoon, theItalian Creative Excellences Pitch Session with protagonists such as Quayola, Alessandra Vuillermin di HardMetaCore e Fuse*The day continued with theInspirations from the World Session, which saw the participation of international figures such as Andrew Shulkind, SVP Capture & Innovation at MSG Sphere Studios, Nadine Ghaffar of Art D'Egypte, Sarah Mackenzie of MUTEK Forum, Suzanne Ball of CODAworx, Agata Di Tommaso of Diversion Cinema, Indranjan Banerjee of Art Jameel, and Natasha Greenhalgh of NXT Museum. 

 

The second day featured two training workshops: the TouchDesigner Workshop, an interactive session on creative coding and real-time visual design, and the Stampa Romana Workshop, a training course on media and communications organized by the Lazio Journalists' Union. 

 

From 3 to 6 July, Agora Expo It was transformed into a contemporary square at the Gasometro G3 – Floor 0, where art, technology, and innovation met, creating a crossroads between Italian tradition and the digital avant-garde. The event was conceived not only as a showcase, but also as a living archive of the Italian creative scene, exploring new media and technologies through artistic and curatorial approaches. The audience was immersed in a visual and interactive narrative that highlighted the richness and diversity of Italian creative experiences, inviting them to discover not only the works, but also the minds and visions that generated them. 

Agorà Expo aimed to be a bridge between Italy and the international scene—a place of encounter, discovery, and dialogue, where the past, present, and future of art and technology merged into a single, coherent narrative.
